Plan Your Next Weekend Getaway or Event with Claude's Help

Open Claude in your web browser

Open your preferred web browser and enter anthropic.com/claude in the address bar, then press Enter. You’ll see the Claude homepage with a prominent “Log in” button near the top center of the page. Clicking “Log in” takes you to a sign‑in screen where you can enter your email and password. Start a new conversation

In the dashboard, locate a button that says “New chat” (often a plus icon in the left‑hand sidebar). Click it; a fresh chat window slides open with a text input field at the bottom. The cursor blinks in the field, signalling that Claude is ready to receive your prompt. On some devices the button may appear as a three‑dot menu – if you don’t see “New chat”, look for a similar plus‑shaped icon or a menu labeled “Start conversation”. 💬 Example: none needed for this step. You’ll know it worked when the empty chat pane displays a gray placeholder like “Ask Claude anything…”.

Ask Claude to draft a weekend itinerary

Click inside the text field and type the following prompt, then press Enter:

Claude will start typing a reply that usually appears within a few seconds. The response will be organized into bullet points or short paragraphs, covering transport, accommodation, key sights and dining options. If Claude replies “I’m not sure what you mean”, re‑type the prompt with a little more detail (e.g., specify dates). You’ll know it worked when you receive a clear, day‑by‑day plan with at least three activity suggestions.

Refine the plan with a guest list and budget

Now that you have a rough itinerary, ask Claude for a more detailed version. Type:

Claude will update the plan, often presenting a simple table that lists each guest (or placeholder names) alongside cost estimates for each day. If the table looks too large, ask Claude to “summarize the budget in a single column”. Should the numbers seem vague, request “average prices for a mid‑range restaurant in the Blue Ridge Mountains”. You’ll know it worked when you see a concise list or table that includes both people and a total cost figure.

Export or save the plan

When you’re happy with the final draft, click the “Copy” icon that sometimes appears at the top‑right of Claude’s response (it looks like two overlapping sheets of paper). If you don’t see a copy icon, simply highlight the entire answer with your mouse, right‑click and choose “Copy”. For a downloadable version, look for a small download button – it may be a down‑arrow icon – and click it to save a .txt file. You’ll know it worked when the text is on your clipboard (you can paste it into a notes app) or when a file appears in your downloads folder.
